Kahlua - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 rounded Tbsp. instant coffee
    5 1/2 c. sugar
    1 qt. rum or vodka
    1 vanilla bean, cut crosswise but not through
    4 c. boiling water
Preparation
    Dissolve coffee in boiling water.
    Add sugar.
    Cool and stir well.
    Add rum or vodka and vanilla bean.
    Put in dark jar and let stand for 30 days in cool place.
    Do not refrigerate.
    Fill rest of jar with vodka.
