New Year'S Eve Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. mixed beans (mix your own or buy 12 bean mix)
    ham hock or smoked ham
    1 large chopped onion
    2 ribs celery, chopped
    1/2 tsp. each thyme and sweet marjoram
    1 tsp. chili powder
    salt and pepper
    2 shredded carrots
    1 can tomatoes (No. 2 1/2 can)
    juice of 1 lemon
Preparation
    Wash beans and put in a large kettle.
    Soak in water overnight.
    Add ham or hock. Bring to a boil and simmer 2 to 3 hours. Add vegetables, herbs and spices after cooking 2 hours. Season when beans are tender with lemon juice. Cut up meat and put back in pot.
