French Onion Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 medium onions
    1 pt. boiling water
    4 Tbsp. flour
    1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
    1 qt. seasoned meat stock
    salt
    freshly ground pepper
    Parmesan cheese
    toast squares
Preparation
    Peel, slice and separate onions.
    Cook in butter until golden brown.
    Add hot water and simmer until tender.
    Add stock, reserving 4 tablespoons to blend with flour when cool.
    Add and stir into mixture.
    Season with salt and freshly ground pepper. Cook only a few minutes.
    Pour into soup bowls.
    Place squares of toast in center.
    Sprinkle with cheese.
    Run under broiler to slightly brown cheese.
    Serves 6 to 8.
