Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/4 lb. butter
    1 c. dark Karo syrup
    1 can Eagle Brand sweetened milk
    1 c. nuts, chopped
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix sugar, butter and Karo thoroughly.
    Let come to a boil, stirring constantly.
    Add milk.
    Keep mixture boiling and continue stirring until a hard ball is formed in cold water.
    Remove from fire; stir in nuts and vanilla.
    Pour into a well buttered pan, 13 x 9-inches.
    When cold, cut in strips, then bite-size pieces. Wrap in cellophane squares.
