Devonshire Splits - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. flour
4 Tbsp. or 1/2 cube margarine
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 oz. or 2 pkg. yeast
1 1/4 c. warm milk
strawberry jam
whipped cream
Preparation

Cut margarine into warm flour (leave out at room temperature overnight).
Add yeast creamed in a little milk and salt.
Mix to a soft dough with the flour mixture.
Knead well and return to bowl to rise in a warm place.
After rising, turn it over, knead again and roll out to 3/4 inch thickness.
Cut of pieces and roll into rounds.
Place onto lightly greased tin.
Leave to rise until the splits have doubled.
Bake in hot oven, 450\u00b0, for 10 to 15 minutes.
Serve with strawberry jam and cream.
