Deep Dish Apple Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2-1/2 qt. apples
1-1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
dash of mace
3 TBSP. butter
1-1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
3 TBSP. cold milk
Preparation

Put sliced apples in 8 by 12 in. baking dish.
Combine sugar, spices and 1/4 tsp. salt. Sprinkle over apples, mixing lightly. Dot with butter. Sift flour and salt, cut in shortening until pcs. are size of sm. peas.
Add milk and then roll crust to size of pan.
Place on top of apples and brush pastry with cream and cut slits to allow steam to escape.
Bake at 450\u00b0 for 15 min., then at 350\u00b0 for 45 min.
