Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter
    4 egg yolks or 2 whole eggs
    4 c. flour
    1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. mace
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Mix butter and eggs thoroughly.
    Add buttermilk and sifted dry ingredients.
    Stir until smooth.
    Roll out on a lightly floured board to 1/2-inch thickness.
    Let set for 20 minutes.
    Cut with a floured 2 1/2-inch doughnut cutter.
    Drop into a kettle of hot oil.
    Turn when they rise to surface, then turn again when they brown.
    Drain on an absorbent cloth or paper towels.
    Cool.
    Dust with either powdered sugar or cinnamon/sugar.
