Lane Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 1/4 c. flour
3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
8 egg whites, beaten
Preparation

Cream butter until smooth; add sugar gradually and beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating until smooth. Fold into beaten egg whites.
Pour batter into 4 round 9-inch cake pans, greased and floured. Bake at 375\u00b0 for about 20 minutes. Let cool.
Spread Lane Frosting between layers and on top and sides.
