Fried Pies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking powder
    2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
    2 Tbsp. solid shortening
    1 egg yolk
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 c. milk
    dried fruit, cooked and sweetened
Preparation
    Sift salt and baking powder with sifted and measured flour. blend in shortening.
    Combine egg yolk, sugar and milk.
    Stir into flour mixture.
    Roll out on a floured board to 1/4-inch thickness.
    Cut into circles 4 or 5-inches in diameter.
    Spread
    a small amount of cooked and sweetened dried fruit on half of each round.
    Fold the other half of crust over filling.
    Seal edges with a fork, dipped in flour.
    Fry in deep fat at 360\u00b0 or in skillet until brown.
    Drain on absorbent paper.
