Squash Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    2 c. vinegar
    1 tsp. pickling spice, tied in a cloth
    8 c. squash, sliced thin
    2 c. onions, sliced thin
    4 bell pepper, sliced thin
    2 tsp. mustard seed
    2 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Mix
    squash,
    onions,
    pepper,\tmustard seed and celery seed together
    and
    let stand for 1 hour.
    Sprinkle with salt. Mix sugar and vinegar together, bring to a boil.
    Add pickling spice. Add
    squash
    mixture.
    Boil
    until pepper changes to a dull green. Put
    into jars while hot.\tSeal and turn jar over on the top. Let stand for 24 hours.
