Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    30 medium cucumbers
    8 large onions
    3 large green or red peppers
    1/2 c. table salt
    5 c. cider (yellow) vinegar
    5 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. whole mustard seed
    1 tsp. turmeric powder
    1/2 tsp. whole cloves
Preparation
    Cut and slice cucumbers, onions and peppers.
    Add salt.
    Let stand for at least 3 hours.
    Then drain off juices.
    Put remaining ingredients in an agot pot and bring to a rolling boil.
    Add drained cucumbers, onions and peppers.
    Heat thoroughly and pack while hot in jars.
    Seal at once.
    Makes 7 to 8 pints.
