Baked Lentils With Cheese - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. lentils, rinsed
    2 c. water
    1 whole bay leaf
    2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/8 tsp. marjoram
    1/8 tsp. sage
    1/8 tsp. thyme
    2 large onions, chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    2 c. canned tomatoes
    2 large carrots, sliced 1/8-inch thick
    1/2 c. thinly sliced celery
    1 green pepper, chopped (optional)
    2 Tbsp. finely chopped parsley
    3 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Combine first 11 ingredients in a shallow 9 x 13-inch dish.
    Cover tightly and bake 30 minutes. Uncover and stir in carrots and celery.
    Bake, covered, 40 minutes until vegetables are tender.
    Stir in green pepper and parsley. Sprinkle Cheddar cheese on top.
    Bake, uncovered, 5 minutes until cheese melts.
    Serves 6.
