Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/4 c. flour
3 rounded Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. soda
Preparation

Mix together flour, cocoa and salt; then sift together.
In a separate bowl, cream together shortening and sugar.
Add eggs and beat well.
Add coloring and vanilla; mix well.
Add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk (about 1/3 of each, each time) and mix well after each addition.
In a small bowl, mix vinegar and soda and stir in last.
Grease and flour 2 round cake pans.
Pour batter into pans and bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
Cool before icing.
