Homemade Banana Layer Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. mashed ripe banana
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Grease and flour 2 (9 x 1 1/2-inch) round baking pans; set aside.
    In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
    Add banana, buttermilk, shortening, eggs and vanilla.
    Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until combined.
    Beat on medium speed for 3 minutes.
    Pour into prepared pans.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
    Cool on wire racks 10 minutes.
    Remove from pans.
    Cool completely on racks.
    Serves 12. Frost with Boiled Frosting recipe.
