Strawberry Cocktail - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 qt. berries
    1 qt. cold water
    juice of 2 lemons
    2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Mash berries well; add sugar and lemon juice and let stand 3 hours.
    Add water; strain and stir until dissolved.
    Let stand on ice one hour.
    Serve in tall narrow glasses, reserving 3 or 4 whole berries for each glass.
    Raspberries, currants or other fruit may be used.
