Blueberry Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/3 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 c. milk
    2 c. blueberries
    1/2 c. sugar (adjust to tartness of berries)
Preparation
    Make batter first.
    Cream the butter with 3/4 cup sugar.
    Add egg and vanilla.
    Stir in flour and baking powder alternately with milk; set aside.
    Put berries and 1/2 cup sugar into a pan with a little water (slightly less than would cover the berries).
    Bring to a boil.
    Into boiling blueberry mixture, drop tablespoons of batter.
    Cover pan tightly; cook over gentle heat 5 to 7 minutes. Serve immediately, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
