Mrs. Murray Strawberry Short Cake(Recipe Is Close To 100 Years Old.) - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. plain flour
4 Tbsp. (heaping) sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
4 Tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. milk
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 qt. strawberries, crushed and 1 c. sugar (set aside)
Preparation

Mix dry ingredients, then add shortening.
Add slightly beaten egg, vanilla and milk.
Dough will be stiff.
Spread over greased pans.
This recipe will make 4 (8-inch) pie pans or 3 (9-inch) pie pans.
Cakes are thin.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
When cake is done, melt 2 tablespoons margarine or butter.
Brush each cake with margarine or butter.
Pour sweetened strawberries over each layer as they are assembled in layers.
Serve with whipping cream.
