Ingredients

3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. all-purpose flour
dash of salt
4 eggs, separated
2 c. canned milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
35 or more vanilla wafers
4 or 5 bananas (fully ripe)
Preparation

Combine 1/2 cup sugar, flour and salt in container (I use a skillet).
Stir in 4 egg yolks and milk; blend well.
Cook, stirring constantly until thick.
Add vanilla.
Crush wafers and mash bananas; stir together.
Pour the thickened filling over wafers and bananas and stir.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Add sugar.
Beat and pour on top of mix.
Bake until browned.
