Gingerbread Muffins - cooking recipe

1 3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
3 eggs
1 c. molasses
1 Tbsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
pinch of salt
3 c. sifted flour
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0. In a cup, dissolve baking soda in the buttermilk. In a bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Mix in molasses. Stir spices and salt into flour. Add some of flour to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk until all ingredients are mixed. Bake 30 to 35 minutes.
