Italian Meat Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sliced onions
    1 lb. lean ground beef
    2 (1 lb.) cans tomatoes
    1 (3 oz.) can broiled, sliced mushrooms
    1 1/2 tsp. oregano
    1 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. olive oil/salad oil
    2 cloves minced garlic
    2 (8 oz.) cans seasoned tomato sauce
    1/4 c. chopped parsley
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1 bay leaf
    1 c. water
Preparation
    In a large skillet, cook onion in hot oil until almost tender. Add meat and garlic.
    Brown lightly.
    Drain.
    Add remaining ingredients. Simmer, uncovered, for 2 1/2 hours or until sauce is nice and thick.
    Stir occasionally.
    The longer it cooks, the better the flavors blend together.
    Serve over hot spaghetti with Parmesan cheese.
    Don't forget to remove the bay leaf.
    Serves 4 to 6.
