Beet Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 pkg. lemon flavored gelatin
    2 c. boiling water
    2 c. shoestring cut beets
    2/3 c. finely minced onion
    2 Tbsp. prepared horseradish
    up to 1 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. vinegar
    1 medium head cabbage, shredded
    1 medium onion, sliced thin
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. salad oil (originally made without, but this improves it)
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. dry mustard
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Layer cabbage and onion in bowl; pour 3/4 cup sugar over.
    Do not mix!
    Combine oil, vinegar, salt, dry mustard, celery seed and sugar in saucepan.
    Let come to a boil.
    Pour hot dressing over cabbage and onion.
    Do not mix!
    Let set in refrigerator for at least 3 hours or overnight.
    (Years ago you set it on the cellar floor.)
    Mix before serving.
