Ingredients

1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
6 eggs, separated
2 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. sour cream or buttermilk
2 tsp. soda
1 1/2 c. blackberry jam
3 c. flour
dash of salt
Preparation

Cream butter.
Add sugar gradually and cream until light and fluffy.
Add egg yolks, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add spices and salt; mix thoroughly.
Add soda to sour cream (or buttermilk) and dissolve.
Add, alternating with flour; mix thoroughly.
Add blackberry jam.
Fold in well beaten egg whites. Pour into 3 (9-inch) layer pans lined with wax paper.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
Frost with Caramel Frosting or Cream Cheese Frosting.
