Navy Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 1/2 c. (6 oz.) low salt ham, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
    1 Tbsp. chopped jalapeno pepper
    1 c. chopped leeks
    1 c. uncooked navy beans, soaked overnight and drained
Preparation
    Heat oil in 3-quart saucepan over medium heat.
    Add leeks and saute 3 to 5 minutes or until tender.
    Stir in ham, beans and pepper.
    Add enough water to just cover beans.
    Bring to a boil and reduce heat to low.
    Cover and simmer 1 to 1 1/2 hours until beans are tender. Makes 4 servings.
