Scottish Shortbread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter (do not use margarine)
    6 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. sugar plus 1/2 c. more to sprinkle on top
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Work all together until it forms a stiff paste.
    Press into a shallow baking pan about 1/2 inch thick and prick all over with a fork.
    Sprinkle lightly with sugar.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 5 minutes, then reduce heat to 300\u00b0 and continue to bake until golden but not brown (about 20 minutes).
    Serve with anything.
