Savory Onion Bread Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. butter (plus extra for bread and greasing pan)
    2 large white onions, cut into rings and halved
    1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
    1/2 lb. Swiss cheese, shredded
    10 slices 1/4-inch thick French bread, both sides buttered
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1/2 c. milk
    2 tsp. soy sauce
    pepper to taste
Preparation
    Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet and saut onions. Butter a 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Layer sliced mushrooms on bottom, sauteed onions on top of mushrooms, cheese next and bread on top. Mix soup, milk and soy sauce in a small bowl; pour over top of layered dish. Sprinkle lightly with pepper. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake uncovered at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes. Serves 12.
