Sauerbraten Meatballs - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. ground lean beef
1/4 c. fine bread crumbs
1/3 c. chopped onion
2/3 c. milk
2 Tbsp. butter
1 c. water
2 Tbsp. ketchup
2 Tbsp. vinegar
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
8 peppercorns
1 bay leaf, crumbled
dash of salt and pepper
1/3 c. raisins
6 gingersnaps, crushed (about 6 Tbsp. crumbs)
Preparation

Mix together ground beef, bread crumbs, onion, salt, pepper and milk.
Make meatballs and brown in melted butter in large skillet.
Mix remaining ingredients.
When meatballs are browned, stir in combined liquid ingredients.
Cook, covered, over low heat for 30 minutes.
Serve over cooked noodles, rice or mashed potatoes.
Serves 4.
