Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar
1 c. Crisco
2 eggs
1 tsp. soda, dissolved in 1/4 c. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
5 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
Preparation

Cream sugar and Crisco well.
Add eggs and mix well.
Stir in soda water and vanilla.
Add remaining ingredients. Mix well. Take dough size of a small egg, roll in hands, then make oblong and press down with fork.
(If too sticky to handle, add a little flour.)
