Marinated Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cabbage, shredded
    onion, thinly sliced
    7/8 c. sugar
    1 c. vinegar
    3/4 c. oil
    1 tsp. dry mustard seed
    1 tsp. celery seed
    2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Arrange cabbage and onion in layers.
    Pour sugar over top. In a saucepan, bring to a boil the vinegar, oil, mustard, celery seed and salt.
    Pour hot mixture at once over the cabbage and onion.
    Let stand at least 6 hours before using.
    Will save 3 weeks in refrigerator.
