Ingredients

5 c. water
2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. grated lemon zest
1/2 c. fresh lemon juice
6 Tbsp. orange liqueur such as Grand Marnier (optional)
Preparation

In a medium saucepan, bring water, sugar and lemon zest to boil; boil over high heat for 5 minutes.
Let cool 5 minutes, then stir lemon juice into sugar-water.
Pour into freezer trays and freeze 1 1/2 hours or until icy.
Stir and break up ice crystals with a fork.
Freeze again until firm, about 2 1/2 hours.
