Chop Suey - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. Crisco
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. water
    1/2 c. fine cut onions
    1 1/2 lb. veal
    1/2 lb. pork
    2 c. diced celery
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    3 level Tbsp. cornstarch mixed with 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
    2 cans bean sprouts
    1 can water chestnuts
    1 can mushroom stems and pieces
    1 can button mushrooms
Preparation
    Sear (but not brown) the meat.
    Add water just to cover.
    Add celery and cook slowly until celery is soft.
    Add thickening and the rest before heating to serve.
