Black-Eyed Peas In Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. black-eyed peas (dried)
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. sweet basil
    2 lb. ham hocks or bacon ends
    1 small can tomato puree
    2 Tbsp. catsup or chili sauce
    2 medium onions
    several pieces of celery
    1 pod garlic
Preparation
    Soak peas 1 hour.
    Boil meat 30 minutes in enough water to cover.
    Add spices. Add tomato puree. Cover and let boil slowly 3 to 4 hours or until done.
    Serve with rice and tasty cole slaw or vegetable salad and corn sticks.
