Kentucky Stack Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. plain flour
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. ground nutmeg
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 tsp. ground allspice
    2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    1 c. Crisco shortening
    4 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    cooked dried apples
Preparation
    Sift
    together
    dry
    ingredients;
    set
    aside.
    Cream together
    sugar
    and
    shortening
    until light and fluffy.
    Add eggs,
    one\tat a
    time, beating well after each addition.
    Add dry ingredients
    and
    buttermilk, alternately to creamed mixture, beating
    well
    after each addition, starting and ending with
    the dry ingredients.
    Pour a very small amount of batter into several greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.
    Bake at
    325\u00b0 until done.
    Let layers cool.
    Stack layers on a cake plate,
    spreading cooked dried apples that have been seasoned to taste, between each layer.
    Yield: a very large stack cake.
