Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. soda
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. cake flour
2 oz. red food coloring
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients, except soda.
Add shortening, food color, vanilla and 2/3 cup buttermilk.
Beat well.
Add eggs and remaining milk.
Beat 1 minute.
Mix vinegar and soda.
Add to mixture and blend by hand.
Pour into 2 greased and floured round cake pans. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
Frost with Cooked White Icing.
