Plain Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. butter
    1/2 c. shortening
    3 c. sugar
    5 eggs
    3 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. coconut (optional)
    1 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream butter and shortening together; add sugar.
    Cream with shortening until blended.
    Add eggs, one at a time.
    Sift flour and baking powder.
    Add coconut and mix.
    Mix into preceding, alternating flour and milk until all used.
    Add vanilla.
    Bake in angel cake pan, greased and floured, at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
