Knoll Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 large onions
    3 Tbsp. oil
    2 lb. beef (chuck roast or round steak)
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    1 c. apple cider or juice
    1/2 c. ketchup
    3 large potatoes
    4 medium carrots
    peas and mushrooms (optional)
Preparation
    Brown onions in oil with meat.
    Combine flour, salt, pepper and thyme; add to meat.
    Stir in cider and ketchup.
    Cover; cook slowly for 1 1/2 hours.
    Add more liquid.
    Add potatoes and carrots; simmer 1 hour.
