Rhubarb And Fig Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 1/2 qt. rhubarb
    1 pt. chopped figs
    8 c. sugar
    1 lemon
Preparation
    Cut rhubarb in small pieces.
    Add sugar and let stand overnight.
    In the morning, boil until thick over medium flame. Add chopped figs and sliced lemon.
    Cook rapidly for 20 to 30 minutes.
    Pack into hot sterilized jars and seal.
