Toffee - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 cup white sugar
1/2 lb. (2 sticks) butter (do not substitute)
3 Tbsp. water
1 tsp. vanilla
6 milk chocolate bars
Chopped pecans or almonds
Preparation

Combine ingredients and stir over medium heat to boiling. Boil until very thick and mixture pulls away from sides of pan and bottom just begins to scorch.
Remove from heat and dribble test by dropping a 1/2 tsp. of toffee on a dish.
If it quickly hardens, it is ready.
If not, return to heat for 30 seconds and repeat.
