German Red Cabbage - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 medium red cabbage, quartered and sliced into 1/4-inch strips
1 medium onion, sliced
1 apple (Granny Smith), peeled and sliced
4 slices bacon, cut into small bits
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 c. red wine
1 bay leaf
Preparation

Saute bacon until yellow, leave fat and add cabbage, onion and apple.
Cover and turn occasionally, until cabbage cooks down and moisture disappears.
Add sugar, salt, bay leaf and red wine. Simmer for 30 minutes.
Serve with pork roast or pork chops.
