Mexican Cornbread With Beef - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. hamburger
    1 c. cornmeal
    1/2 tsp. soda
    2 eggs
    3/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    1/2 c. bacon drippings or oil
    1 medium size can cream-style corn
    1 large onion, chopped
    1/2 to 1 lb. Ortega chilies (can use jalapeno peppers to taste)
Preparation
    Brown hamburger and set aside.
    Mix next 7 ingredients to make batter.
    In a greased pan, pour 1/2 of batter; then layer hamburger, onion, chilies and grated cheese.
    Pour remainder of batter on top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 to 400\u00b0 for 30 to 45 minutes.
    I usually use a 7 x 11-inch or 9 x 13-inch pan.
