Donuts - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pkg. active dry yeast
1/4 c. warm milk (105~ to 150~)
3/4 c. lukewarm milk
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/4 c. shortening
3 1/2 to 3 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
Preparation

Dissolve yeast in warm milk.
Stir in lukewarm milk, sugar, salt, egg, shortening and 2 cups flour.
Mix in remaining flour to make it easy to handle.
Turn dough lightly on floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic.
Place in greased bowl and let rise until doubled in size, 1 1/2 hours.
Punch down and let rise again 30 minutes.
Roll out to 3/8 inch thickness, cut with donut cutter and let rise on board until thick.
Heat oil (3 to 4 inches) to 375\u00b0.
Drop donuts into hot oil and turn donuts as they rise to the surface.
Carefully remove.
Glaze if desired.
