Strawberry Meringue Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yellow cake mix
    4 eggs, separated
    1 1/2 tsp. grated orange peel
    1 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 qt. fresh strawberries
    1 carton whipping cream
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Combine cake mix, egg yolks, orange peel and mix.
    Beat 4 minutes at medium speed.
    Pour into 2 greased and floured round cake pans.
    Beat egg whites with cream of tartar to soft peaks. Gradually add the 1 cup sugar, beating to stiff peaks.
    Spread meringue evenly over batter.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 35 minutes and let cool.
    Remove from pan, meringue side up.
    Mash 1/2 cup strawberries with 2 tablespoons sugar; whip cream until stiff. Spread 1/2 of cream mixture over bottom meringue.
    Reserving 2 cups whole berries, slice remainder and place over creamed mixture.
    Top with remaining cream mixture and whole berries.
