Butterscotch Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. butter
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 c. flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Melt butter and blend with sugar.
    Add egg and beat vigorously.
    Sift flour; measure and add baking powder and salt. Sift again.
    Add dry ingredients to egg and sugar mixture and mix together well.
    Add chopped nuts and vanilla.
    Spread dough in a greased 8 x 8-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
    Cut into squares or bars while warm.
    Makes 18 to 20 squares.
