Beef Barley Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. barley
    4 c. water
    1 envelope herb and garlic or fine herbes soup mix
    1 (9 to 10 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped spinach, thawed
    3 lb. leanest ground beef you can get (see note)
    2 c. minced onion
    2 c. chopped green peppers
    1 large (46 oz.) can vegetable juice cocktail
    salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste
Preparation
    Note:
    The best bet is to buy shoulder or top sirloin London broil; remove all visible fat and grind it yourself.
