Caramel Bread Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. brown sugar
    5 slices bread, generously buttered
    3 c. milk
    1/8 tsp. salt
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    nutmeg
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Place sugar in bottom of a buttered glass dish.
    Tear bread slices into quarters and place on top of sugar.
    Mix all other ingredients (except nutmeg) and pour over the bread.
    Sprinkle lightly with nutmeg.
    Bake, uncovered, about 40 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
    Serve hot with milk or half and half.
