Waybury Hot Fruit Compote - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. pitted prunes
    1/2 c. pears, fresh or canned
    1/2 c. peaches, fresh or canned
    1/2 c. pineapple, fresh or canned
    1 1/2 c. applesauce
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. ginger
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    juice of 1/2 lemon and its rind, chopped
    other fruits may be substituted
Preparation
    Preheat the oven to 250\u00b0.
    Combine prunes, pears, peaches and pineapple with applesauce.
    Arrange in a casserole.
    Add cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, lemon juice and rind.
    Cover the casserole and place in the oven.
    Bake for at least one hour.
    The longer it bakes the better it is.
    Serve as a complement to meat or fowl.
