"Lesueur" Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 to 2 heads lettuce, shredded
    1/2 c. green pepper, chopped
    1/2 c. red onion, chopped
    1/2 c. celery, chopped
    1/2 c. carrots, shredded
    1 small jar mayonnaise
    1 pkg. frozen \"LeSueur\" peas
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. shredded sharp cheese
    6 strips bacon, fried crisp and crumbled or bacon bits to taste
Preparation
    In a large salad bowl or a 9 x 13-inch pan, alternate layers of lettuce, peppers, onions, celery and carrots.
    Simmer frozen peas for approximately 5 minutes and drain.
    Put over layers of other ingredients.
    Sprinkle tablespoons of sugar over mayonnaise.
    Spread shredded cheese and bacon bits to taste as a topping.
    Seal bowl or pan tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate 12 to 24 hours.
