Date Nut Roll - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1 c. canned evaporated milk
    3 Tbsp. margarine
    3 Tbsp. light corn syrup
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 c. chopped walnuts
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
Preparation
    Combine sugar, milk, margarine and corn syrup in saucepan. Over medium heat, bring to boiling, stirring.
    Add dates.
    Boil to soft ball stage (cook, stirring often, to 238\u00b0 on candy thermometer or until a little cold water forms a soft ball). Remove from heat.
    Add walnuts and vanilla; beat until thick.
