Molasses Shoo-Fly Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/8 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. molasses
3/4 c. boiling water
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 egg yolk, beaten
Preparation

Mix together first 6 ingredients.
Cut in shortening with pastry blender until mixture is crumbly.
Set aside.
Line a 9-inch pie pan with pastry.
Combine 4 remaining ingredients.
Alternate layers of crumbs and liquid mixture in pastry shell, ending with crumbs.
Bake at 450\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
Reduce heat to 350\u00b0 and bake about 20 minutes longer or until firm.
