Chicken In A Pot - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 to 2 carrots, sliced
    1 to 2 onions, sliced
    1 to 2 celery stalks, sliced
    2 1/2 to 3 lb. whole broiler fryer chicken
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. coarse black pepper
    1/2 c. water, chicken broth or white wine
    1/2 to 1 tsp. basil
Preparation
    Put vegetables in bottom of crock-pot.
    Add whole chicken. Top with salt, pepper and liquid.
    Sprinkle basil over top.
    Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours, on high for 3 1/2 to 5 hours, using 1 cup water.
