Toads - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. cornmeal
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 Tbsp. sugar or 1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
1 c. milk
Preparation

Mix all ingredients thoroughly and drop from teaspoon into very hot deep fat (370\u00b0).
Molasses gives a richer, more robust flavor than sugar.
A little cinnamon and nutmeg may be added if desired.
These are delicate and tender when first cooked.
A brief heating in the oven helps them the second day.
